About Me

I am about to begin my eighth year at Symons Elementary School, in Milan, Michigan.  I taught fifth grade for five years, fourth grade for one and am excited to get to work with all the students and teachers as the Literacy Interventionist and Literacy Coach for a second year.  I love working with students and watching them learn and grow!  Now, I also get to work with the teachers and help them to continue to learn and grow as well.

I did my undergraduate studies at Michigan State University and Eastern Michigan University.  I earned my degree from Eastern in Language Arts.  I completed my master's degree in Reading in December, 2010, and am a certified Reading Specialist.  I am a district and county trainer for Reading Apprenticeship, serve on the English Language Arts Curriculum Committee as well as many other professional learning communities throughout the district.

I have always lived in this area of the state.  I grew up in Saline and was the third generation to graduate from Saline High School.  I can't see myself ever leaving the Ann Arbor area.  My husband, Josh (a Milan graduate) and I were married in the summer of 2004.  We had our first child, Noah Daniel, in March of 2007 and our second son, Benjamin Joshua, in April of 2009, and our third son, Luke Thomas, in May 2011.  In our free time, we love watching U of M football, Tigers Baseball and Nascar.  We are big sports fans!  Josh is a high school math teacher in Saline.  Our friends and family think it's funny that he graduated from Milan and teaches in Saline, and I graduated from Saline and teach in Milan.  We love both districts and feel honored to be part of the teach staff in both districts.
